An International Conference on the Legacy of Amir Timur Held in Tashkent

Today, April 9, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev participated in the International Scientific Conference “The Role and Significance of Amir Timur and the Timurid Civilization in World History and Culture,” held at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Organized as a major international scientific and cultural platform, the conference brought together academic discussions, exhibition projects, and a cultural program. It aimed to provide a comprehensive scholarly understanding of Amir Timur’s legacy and the Timurid era, as well as to establish a sustainable platform for international scientific and cultural cooperation with a perspective through 2030.

The event gathered over 300 leading scholars and experts from Turkic countries, alongside representatives of academies of sciences, international organizations, museums, libraries, and universities from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America.

Speaking at the conference’s opening ceremony, Shahin Mustafayev highlighted Amir Timur’s exceptional role as a statesman and creator of a cultural space, while also emphasizing the significance of the Timurid era in the development of science, art, and Turkic civilization as a whole.

“The role of Amir Timur and the Timurids in shaping the civilizational identity of Central Asia, as well as in the development of the culture of the entire Turkic-Muslim world, cannot be overstated,” said Mustafayev.

As part of the conference, thematic sectional sessions were held, focusing on the history, culture, and scholarly heritage of the Timurid period, facilitating deep academic and cultural exchange among participants.
