Today, September 26, in Antalya, Türkiye, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, participated in the 29th session of the Academic Council of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS).
The Academic Council brings together scholars from the IICAS member countries and plays an important scientific advisory and governance role within the Institute. The Council evaluates the implementation of approved scientific programmes, reviews the Institute’s work plans and budget, and considers priorities for IICAS’s future activities.
At the meeting, IICAS Director Evren Rütbil presented a report on the Institute’s activities, the implementation of its scientific programme, and the budget for 2026–2027. The Council members also reviewed international agreements concluded by the Institute in 2026, as well as IICAS’s application for institutional membership in the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
The agenda also included the process of obtaining UNESCO Category 2 Institute status for IICAS. Participants further discussed expanding associate membership, introducing AI assistants, and the digitalization of the Institute’s internal processes.
