Today, 14 September, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, participated in the First International Scientific - Practical Conference dedicated to Sheikh Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi, a prominent Azerbaijani thinker and scholar of the 15th century, held in Baku.
The conference was held as part of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States. The event brought together religious leaders and representatives of governmental, public and academic circles from more than 40 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and research centers.
In his address, Mustafayev highlighted the historical significance of the legacy of Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi and the Khalwatiyya Sufi order, emphasizing its profound influence on the religious, cultural and political life of Azerbaijan, as well as its subsequent spread far beyond the country’s borders.
“The study of historical heritage is not merely about looking back at the past. History is also an important spiritual source that enables us to better understand the present and the future,” said President of the Turkic Academy.
During the conference, scholars and experts presented their research and papers addressing various aspects of Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi’s legacy. Participants also exchanged academic perspectives and experience in discussions focused on his philosophical, scholarly and spiritual heritage.
