Vice President of the Turkic Academy Participated in OIC (COMSTECH) Meeting

From April 22 to 24, Vice President of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbayev took part as a guest in the 6th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the Implementation of the STI Agenda 2026, held in Islamabad, Pakistan.

In his remarks, Kessikbayev highlighted the key priorities of the Turkic Academy, which currently coordinates more than 40 scientific projects across various fields.

He also underscored the importance of the Academy’s ongoing cooperation with COMSTECH, highlighting joint initiatives such as the organization of the international Iqbal Forums in Islamabad (2020) and Almaty (2022), the translation and publication of Muhammad Iqbal’s philosophical work into Azerbaijani and the establishment of a “Turkic Corner” at the COMSTECH library, to which the Academy donated over 50 books and monographs.

Concluding his speech, Kessikbayev reaffirmed the Turkic Academy’s commitment to expanding scientific collaboration with OIC institutions, including COMSTECH.

The meeting was organized by the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH). Opening remarks were delivered by COMSTECH Coordinator General, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary and Deputy Secretary General of the OIC, Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher.

Throughout the session, representatives from key OIC institutions—including COMSTECH, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), ICESCO, COMCEC, IOFS, SESRIC and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS), among others—shared updates on the implementation of the STI Agenda 2026. Their presentations assessed progress made, addressed current challenges and outlined future steps aligned with the Abu Dhabi Declaration of 2022.
