On June 12, 2025, the XIV Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, under the motto “TURKTIME: The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy.” The international event brought together speakers and members of parliaments from TURKPA member states, as well as heads of Turkic cooperation organizations and other international institutions.
At the plenary session, speeches were delivered by the heads of parliaments of Turkic countries, representatives of international organizations, parliamentarians, as well as President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev.
In his address on behalf of the Academy, Mustafayev emphasized the importance of the TURKPA platform for strengthening Turkic solidarity and advancing joint scientific initiatives.
“The Turkic World is a vast space that has historically been a cradle of civilization, science and culture. Within the framework of TURKPA and other organizations, we aim to carry this heritage into the future,” he stated.
Mustafayev also informed participants about the key areas of the Turkic Academy’s activities, highlighting ongoing archaeological excavations in Nomgon (Mongolia) and Jankent (Kazakhstan), the implementation of 40 scientific projects and several major initiatives — including the expansion of the Union of National Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World, the adoption of the Common Turkic Alphabet, and the launch of a scholarly monograph on the shared history of the Turkic World.
During the session, participants discussed key items on TURKPA’s agenda and ultimately adopted the Astana Declaration, reflecting their shared commitment to deepening cooperation and enhancing strategic coordination among Turkic states.
