VII Turkological Summer School Launched at Karabakh University

On 11 August 2025, at Karabakh University in the city of Khankendi (Azerbaijan), took place the opening ceremony of the VII Turkological Summer School of the Turkic States, organized at the initiative of the Turkic Academy in cooperation with Karabakh University, the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), and the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The ceremony was attended by President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, Rector of Karabakh University Shahin Bayramov, and President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Muzaffer Şeker, as well as representatives of the academic and educational community.

The Summer School, held from 11 to 17 August 2025 at Karabakh University, aims to strengthen the academic potential of young scholars in the field of Turkology, promote the exchange of knowledge and experience among participants from various countries, and create conditions for mastering modern scientific approaches and applied research methods.

The program brings together 30 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers under the age of 35 from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Iran, Mongolia, and North Macedonia, studying under the guidance of distinguished scholars and experts from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.

Over the course of the week, participants will develop key competencies in preparing academic publications, delivering presentations, and effectively utilizing research grants, while exploring topics related to the history of Turkic states, the archaeology of the Turkic world, interrelations among Turkic peoples, the history of art and philosophical thought, as well as Turkic dialects and literatures.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev emphasized the historical and spiritual significance of Karabakh and noted that the Academy continues its mission to preserve and advance the scientific and cultural heritage of the Turkic world. He further stressed that the Turkological Summer School serves not only as a platform for the exchange of knowledge but also as an important means of strengthening friendly ties among young scholars, and wished the participants success in their endeavors.

In addition to lectures and seminars, the program features musical and artistic performances, as well as visits to Khankendi and the city of Shusha, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
