Today, on February 12, a conference titled “Pakistan–Kazakhstan Relations: Post-Visit Reflections and Pathways for Strategic Cooperation” was held in Islamabad. The event was jointly organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The conference brought together federal ministers of Pakistan, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ISSI leadership and experts, representatives of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan, OIC-COMSTECH, research centers and universities from both countries, representatives of diplomatic missions of the Turkic Council member states, as well as Vice President of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbayev.

During the conference, participants discussed the outcomes and strategic significance of the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, as well as prospects for elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in economic and trade relations, transit and transport connectivity, energy, science, and technology. The conference aimed to identify practical steps to implement the agreements reached and strengthen collaboration between Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Central Asian countries.

In his address, Askhat Kessikbayev conveyed greetings from the President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, highlighting the Academy’s important role as an international organization uniting scholars and research institutions from Turkic countries. He emphasized the Academy’s contribution to fostering scientific, cultural, and educational collaboration across the Eurasian region.

Kessikbayev also stressed that Pakistan holds a key position in the Academy’s strategic and intellectual activities.

“In preparation for the first state visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan, the Turkic Academy in 2025 implemented the project ‘Pakistan and the Turkic World: Identity, Diplomacy, and Strategic Partnership’. The project involved scholars from the Turkic world and Pakistan, and resulted in a collective monograph highlighting historical, diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkic countries,” said the Academy’s Vice President.

During his presentation, Vice President Kessikbayev formally introduced the monograph and presented copies to the Federal Minister for Railways of Pakistan, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the Director of ISSI, and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
